Tabs for Charities
“Keeps Tabs on Kids”
Since 1998, the Northern Illinois area has collected over 10 million tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Any school, business, organization or individual interested in helping support the work of the Ronald McDonald House, through the collection of tabs, is welcome.
The Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) provides a “home away from home” for families whose children are undergoing treatment for serious illness or injury in the Madison health care facilities. RMHC also supports the delivery of cost-free dental and medical care to children through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
RMHC and its recycling partner, Resource Solutions, offers a special redemption rate for the aluminum tabs which are the purest form of desirable metal for recyclers. The money from the recycling program is used to help offset the cost of the house.
The collection of tabs, especially by our youth, helps them learn the spirit of volunteering. By taking an active role in the community our youth benefit in many ways. It teaches them that are responsible for more than jsut themselves in life while building relationships with others.
Tabs collected in our area should be brought to the NORTHRIDGE MCDONALD’S. Please inform the Red Ribbon Program of the quantity delivered so we can keep a community total.
– there are about 1000 tabs in a pound
– a McDonald’s fry box holds about 55,000 tabs
