The Northern Illinois Red Ribbon Program is an educational program that empowers our youth to take an ACTIVE role in promoting healthy lifestyles while becoming effective leaders in their respective schools and community. This, we feel, can be accomplished by strengthening the body, mind, and soul.
The program primarily serves youth in Stephenson, Wwinnebago, Boone and Ogle counties. Our programs are developed and implemented by both a student and adult cabinet. Our student cabinet consists of 15 students representing 6 area high schools. The adult cabinet finds caring people who are dedicted to helping our youth. While the youth are the principal shareholders in our program, adults serve as a valuable resourses guiding youth in their quest to present meaningful and effective programs to the community.
We provide a “broad brush” approach to wellness education. A variety of unique programs and activities are presented to the community because we believe that people have different learning styles, thus, a variety of methods to impact the indivuduals are developed and implemented.
We work in close partnership with all sectors of the community (public, private, governmental, and non-profit) because we believe that they, as an “extended family” can assist us in encouraging our youth to channel their talents, energy, and creative minds in a positive direction.
